KISS - Use of Proton Pump Inhibitors

KISS - Use of Proton Pump Inhibitors

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are commonly prescribed in Australia.  While they have an important role in the treatment of a number of conditions, they are often continued long-term unnecessarily. Over recent years there have been a number of studies flagging potential risks of their long-term use.

This KISS explores the limited indications for long-term PPI prescription, potential safety concerns and when dose reduction or cessation may be more appropriate. Download the KISS summary here.
