Frequently Asked Questions

How does your ALS course compare to ALS1 or ALS2?

Our ALS courses are at an equivalency of the ALS2 course, and our PALS course is equivalent. We include comprehensive case based eLearning and practical hands on simulation to ensure all resuscitation roles are covered and performed by participants. Our courses include the latest ANZCOR and ILCOR guidelines and incorporate the latest resuscitation science to ensure you are up to date with the latest research and best practice. We pitch the practical aspect of the program to match your clinical experience and expertise.

Are your courses accredited?

Our courses have accreditation with various medical colleges including the RACGP, ACRRM, ANZCA, RANCR and are also recognised by many others including the RACP. As our courses are delivered in line with the Resuscitation Guidelines, and Standard 8 of the National Standards, we regularly deliver courses for Hospitals, Clinics, Radiology Clinics and GP practices.

How long is certification valid for?

We recommend annual recertification of BLS, ALS and PALS. While there is no standard requirment for when recertification should occur, some Colleges require certification every 3 years, and some hospitals require annual certification. The ILCOR guidelines recommend frequent re-training with skills deteriorating as quickly as 3 months. You can attend our courses at any time regardless of your current certification status. Our eLearning also offers access to ongoing videos and cases to keep you refreshed.

Are there prerequisites, or pre-reading material?

A program manual and case based eLearning is provided as pre-course learning, it is recommended that all participants read and complete this learnng to enhance their learning during the course. An understanding of basic rhythm interpretation is required.

How are the assessments conducted?

Our BLS (CPR) course assessments are done via practical demonstration via video upload or video meeting. Our ALS and PALS assessments are conducted during the face to face component of the course during simulated resuscitation scenarios. BLS (CPR) is assessed as part of our ALS and PALS courses.

Are your resuscitation courses eligible for any grants?

Our ALS course is eligible for both a 2 day Emergency grant and a 2 day Anaesthetics grant with the RACGP.
