This comprehensive basic life support course offers scenario-based online education and competency assessment. It's ideal for first-responders and healthcare professionals dealing with clinical emergencies like cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Course Content

The Basic Life Support course covers each step in the DRSABCD algorithm as per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. It also includes managing collapsed patients, anaphylaxis treatment, and techniques for optimising outcomes in cardiac/respiratory arrests. Video demonstration of key skills is included

Engage in case-based eLearning with video demonstrations to master skills in providing CPR, using AEDs, and managing anaphylaxis in both adult and paediatric patients. This self-paced learning fits any schedule with an estimated completion time of 2 hours.

BLS Practical Component - Demonstrating CPR Proficiency

Successful completion of this course includes demonstration of CPR and use of AED. You will need to perform 2 minutes of CPR on a mannikin (not provided with the course)

Steps to complete the practical component

1. Video Submission - Upload your CPR demonstration for assessment and feedback
2. Video Conference Session - Book a session via the link in the course learning for assessment and live feedback with our resuscitation educators
3. Group Session - For healthcare organisations or groups, organise a face to face session with our educators at your location (may incur travel costs)

BLS Course Target Audience and Accreditation

This Basic Life Support (BLS) online course is aimed at GPs, Dentists, Radiologists, RNs, ENs, Paramedics, Radiographers, Aged Care professionals and Allied Health Professionals. 

This course is formally accredited with the RACGP and ACRRM as an Educational Activity. It also meets RACGP BLS/CPR requirements.

This course does not provide ALS training for Acute healthcare providers who require a formal ALS qualification. Please see our Advanced Life Support page for more information on ALS courses.

Optional Skills Sessions for groups

Groups may choose to undertake a skill station component for an additional fee. This will cover practical skills stations that the participants can rotate through to practice the techniques on manikins and receive individual instruction. The skills stations will include: 

• Basic airway management
• CPR – adult (paediatric optional)
• and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator
