04 July 2023 - Kate Clutton

We are thrilled to announce that Medcast's renowned Advanced Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support and Emergencies in General Practice courses have been assessed and approved by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) as eligible for grant funding under the Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP). This exciting development opens up new opportunities for rural healthcare practitioners to enhance their resuscitation and emergency skills through Medcast.

What is the RPGP?

The RPGP, initiated by the Australian Government's Department of Health, aims to support doctors in rural and remote areas by providing financial assistance for procedural training and upskilling. The program has 2 components:

  1. Procedural: Rural procedural GPs practising in surgery, anaesthetics and/or obstetrics

  2. Emergency: Rural GPs practising emergency medicine (including mental health services)

Who is eligible?

The program supports procedural GPs, and eligible locum GPs, in rural and remote areas within the Modified Monash Model 3-7 regions. The other relevant eligibility criteria, including requirements to hold unsupervised clinical privileges, can be found in the Rural Procedural Grant Guidelines.
