The ALERT™ Course 2025

This comprehensive course covers the assessment and management of acute life-threatening emergencies including the critical aspects of crisis resource management. It is designed for clinicians primarily working in the pre-hospital, urgent care/emergency care critical care and acute care settings.

In-depth Coverage of Critical Emergencies

Interact with live webinar polls to review patient case studies covering common medical emergencies, including anaphylaxis, acute coronary syndrome, acute pulmonary oedema, drowning syndrome, diabetic emergencies, envenomation, pulmonary embolism, respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, tension pneumothorax and trauma.

Robust Theoretical Foundation & Practical Application

Applied physiology for each case is intergrated into primary and secondary survey techniques reinforcing essential patient assessment and diagnostic skills along with the principles of crisis resource management.

Flexible Learning Modules

Engage with the content at your own pace through live webinars, pre-recorded webinars and interactive eLearning case studies, amounting to 12 hours of CPD (10 hours of EA and 2 hours of RP via eLearning case studies)

The course is broken into five core modules that include webinars, eLearning case studies and some skills videos.

Module 1: Approach to Emergencies

  • Principles of crisis resource management
  • Primary & Secondary Survey 

Module 2: Airway and Breathing

  • Respiratory emergencies including pneumothorax, drowning & haemoptysis 
  • Managing acute respiratory failure

Module 3: Cardiovascular 

  • Cardiac emergencies Including acute coronary syndrome, acute pulmonary oedema, pulmonary embolism
  • Managing trauma & shock

Module 4: Disability

  • Neurological emergencies including TIA, stroke & traumatic brain injury
  • Managing concussive injuries, seizures and pain 
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis

Module 5: Exposure

  • System based emergencies including sepsis, envenomation
  • Managing anaphylaxis and oncological emergecies
