Medcast Resuscitation Instructor Course 2025

Introducing Medcast’s Resuscitation Instructor Course, a comprehensive program designed to equip you with the skills and certification necessary to be a leader in resuscitation education.

The Medcast Resuscitation Instructor Course has progressed traditional methods of instructor training focusing on a team based approach to enhance the collaborative dynamics essential in high-stakes clinical events. This means we emphasise not only technical, but also non-technical skills to develop participants ability to perform as a team leader and in all team member roles.

Through interactive online learning and simulation-based face-to-face training, our course will set you apart from your peers equipping you with the skills and knowledge to deliver impactful resuscitation education.

If you want to certify or recertify as an ALS and/or PALS instructor and be equipped to deliver resuscitation education that focuses on advancing a team-centric approach, we would love to see you at a course.

The program provides:

• Comprehensive course manual covering the principles of adult education, resuscitation education, simulation training and debriefing
• Interactive eLearning demonstrating the application of techniques in resuscitation instructing including briefing, debriefing and scenario development
• Access to the blended ALS and/or PALS learning material inclusive of case based eLearning, skills videos, and course manual
• Development of instructor skills to equip you to deliver simulation based training and assessments, incorporating:
• rapid cycle deliberate practice for skills development, 
• hands on practice in the delivery of clinically engaging simulations focusing on integrated teamwork and individual team member development

This course also includes recertification in either Adult (ALS) or Paediatric (PALS) Advanced Life Support.

To be successful:

Participants will be required to demonstrate their knowledge in the principles of resuscitation education via theory exam, and demonstration via practical simulation sessions for the:

• Delivery of ALS/PALS simulation training including briefing, debriefing, managing candidate physical and psychological safety
• Correct performance in ALS/PALS team roles
• Assessing a candidates performance in:
  • Basic life support (CPR)
  • Correct safe use of a manual defibrillator, administration of resuscitation drugs, and IO insertion
  • Airway techniques including BVM ventilation, waveform capnography & assistance in intubation or SGA insertion
  • Leading a resuscitation team (including non-technical skills and correct application of ALS/PALS algorithm)

Eligibility:

Instructor candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible to attend the program:

1. AHPRA registration (Medical officer, RN, Paramedic)
2. Current certification in ALS and/or PALS certification from a recognised provider (Medcast, ARC Course Centre ALS 2, ACCCN) or as approved by Medcast Head of Education.

Preferably, candidates would also have:

1. Recent relevant clinical experience in resuscitation, emergency, critical care, anaesthesia or cardiac care
2. Previous clinical education experience ideally inclusive of simulation and/or clinical skills training
