What we’ll cover in a visit about gout?
Often undertreated or thought of as acute, gout is a chronic condition that causes severe pain, disability and impairment. It affects 1.2 to 1.8 million Australians and is linked to comorbidities including hypertension, chronic kidney disease, obesity and cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular events. This visit will address:
- Myths and misconceptions about diet and lifestyle.
- Guidance on initiation of urate-lowering therapy and flare prophylaxis.
- Effective management planning
- Strategies to promote adherence to therapy.
What we’ll cover in a visit about eczema?
Nearly 3 million Australians are affected by eczema. Often thought of as a minor condition, the reality for many people is that eczema is a debilitating chronic disease. This visit will address:
- The psychosocial impact and burden of eczema on patients and carers.
- Common triggers and the importance of moisturisers.
- Topical corticosteroid safety and food allergy concerns.
- When to refer for systemic therapies.
- Creating person-centred care plans to improve management.
