SupportGPT is a high-quality, online, in-practice GP Training education resource and tool. It has significant benefits for GP Supervisors, GP Registrars and GPs on the Independent Pathway.
SupportGPT comprises 16 e-learning modules for registrars and Independent Pathway GPs to work through in their own time, guided by a weekly planner. Each module has Supervision activities that registrars prepare before their weekly GP Supervisor teaching sessions.
This helps supervisors by reducing some of the preparation burden for teaching sessions, and providing useful, prepared material for these sessions. Independent Pathway GPs are encouraged to reflect on, and prepare these activities, and then discuss with a mentor or senior colleague.
Medcast offers an enterprise license for GP Training providers interested in enrolling their registrars in SupportGPT. The enterprise package includes a linking of Registrars and Supervisors to enable progress tracking and collaboration on course activities. Medcast provides regular progress reporting on course activities.
Registrars will have access to 16 modules each including 3 hrs teaching time (minimum). SupportGPT includes a Term Planning tool that may be used as a week by week guide to supervision session.
SupportGPT provides Supervisors with tools to provide in-practice teaching as well as the opportunity for Continuing Professional Development via an accredited ALM.
The term planner tool in SupportGPT includes a suggested outline for in-practice teaching sessions and activities that can be completed in these sessions.
Supervisors interested in completing the Supervisor training separate to SupportGPT can enrol below.
Registrars have access to a series of modules on a range of important clinical topics, focused on teaching clinical reasoning and the ‘know how’ of clinical medicine, as well as the ‘know what’.
Each module is a minimum of 3 hours of learning and includes suggested activities to conduct during supervision, plus associated resources for teaching sessions around each topic.
SupportGPT is suitable for doctors on the Independent Pathway as they enter General Practice and consider preparing to sit college exams. It is an ideal program to undertake before focussed exam preparation (such as Medcast’s Exam Preparation courses). Independent Pathway doctors might choose to complete the modules independently or with a mentor.
The modules focus on teaching clinical reasoning and the ‘know how’ of clinical medicine, as well as the ‘know what’.
