Course Description
This is a blended course that utilises online learning to support a 1 day face to face course. The blended program is inclusive of theory content, skill stations and real-time ALS scenario simulations adapted to your clinical environment.
Self paced learning completed prior to course attendance includes a series of skills videos, pre-recorded presentations and case based scenarios to test your knowledge prior to attendance at the 1 day practical program. The online learning component will take approximately 4-8 hours to complete.
This course equips you to provide infant, child and adult basic life support (including C-Spine stabilisation) as well as adult advanced life support (ALS) in the event of an adult cardiac arrest. ALS includes manual defibrillation, drug therapy, airway management, assessment & management of reversible causes as well as special circumstances such as anaphylaxis, and post resuscitation care.
All candidates will have their skills monitored and assessed throughout practical sessions and real-time scenarios. ALS competency will be achieved via practical assessments through simulation and online theory exam. All participants will be eligible for a certificate of ALS attendance, and those who are deemed competent will receive a certificate of ALS competency.
This Course is designed for all medical, nursing, paramedic and specialist health care professionals who need to be capable of providing emergency management and advanced life support to their patients. It also meets the ALS training program requirement for GP registrars.
A separate one day program is available for those interested in Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
