Surviving Sepsis - Minutes Matter On Demand

Sepsis is a life-threatening response to infection, every year, more than 18,000 Australians suffer from sepsis.

Surviving Sepsis - Minutes Matter includes variety of learning mediums focused on clinical cases, coronial investigations and panel discussion around the latest science on sepsis management.

Sepsis has a global impact on morbidity and mortality, it is the final common pathway to death from most infectious diseases worldwide, including COVID-19.

Sepsis accounts for around 22% of all admissions to Australian ICUs, with mortality around 15%.  Survivors have a reduction in life years by around 15 years and are often burdened with life-changing complications like multiple limb amputations.

The ability to recognise the early signs of sepsis and implement evidenced based treatment to support the patient’s response to infection is fundamental to surviving sepsis.

This series will focus on:

  • Understanding Sepsis - The dysregulated host response to infection.
  • Golden Hour of Sepsis  - Impact in the pre-hospital, ED, hospital and critical care environment; implementing treatment protocols and organ failure.
  • Impact of Sepsis - Mortality, ICU admission, reduced length of life, post-sepsis syndrome.

You should do this course if you are interested in recognising the signs of sepsis early, knowing which patients are more at risk, understanding the care of patients with septic shock, and post sepsis syndrome. Whether you work in pre-hospital care, acute care or critical care, this course is relevant to you. Be part of the sepsis solution!
