This free webinar will take an active approach in the analysis of a coroner’s case of post-operative deterioration, leading to sepsis.
This free and interactive webinar which has been recorded for 'on-demand' viewing:
Sepsis is a life-threatening response to infection. Did you know that more than 18,000 Australians suffer from sepsis every year with more than 5,000 deaths a year; this is twice the number of deaths due to traffic accidents. Fifty percent of the sepsis related deaths in children occur in the first 24 hours. Sixty percent of Australians have never heard of sepsis with only 14% being able to name the symptoms. (CEC QLD 2020).
Not only does sepsis come with a high mortality rate, but many patients who do survive are left with life changing effects such as amputations, sensory losses, chronic pain, fatigue, and post-traumatic stress syndrome. Early recognition and management of sepsis saves lives.
In this free webinar, we will take an active approach where you will get to analyse a coroner’s case of post-operative deterioration leading to sepsis. The webinar will focus on the risks of deterioration, and the impact when we fail to recognise and escalate the signs of sepsis.
Come and participate in the case, see what you would have done and learn what to do differently.
