This mini audit is designed for GPs to review their own clinical cases where genetic testing was considered, using the PRECISE genetic testing table as a practical guide. Participants will reflect on whether their testing decisions, outcomes, and communication of results aligned with current guidelines, considering factors such as test limitations, Medicare criteria, cost, and the need for specialist input.
The activity provides an opportunity to identify differences between personal practice and guideline recommendations, and to consider any changes for future patient care. GPs can also review follow-up actions for the patients included in their audit, helping to develop a plan to improve alignment with best practice and patient-centered genetic care.
By completing this audit, participants will consolidate their understanding of which tests can be safely ordered in general practice, recognise when specialist input is required, and enhance confidence in integrating genetic testing into routine care. This reflective process supports professional development and provides CPD-accredited learning (2.5hr MO + 0.5hr EA) aligned with practical, real-world application.
This is a Medcast Continuing Medical Education (CME) course.
