Management of the agitated person with dementia

Join the expert team of medical educators from Dementia Training Australia for a webinar on the care of an agitated person living with dementia. 

Drs Rebecca Moore and Steph Daly will focus on understanding the causes of agitation and their impact on behaviour, identifying triggers to tailor intervention and prevent escalation, pharmacological interventions and behavioural support. Attendees will develop an understanding of appropriate assessment tools, strategies to minimise recurrence and how psychological symptoms can impact a person and their behaviour. 

This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview for general practitioners on managing dementia related agitation and will offer actionable strategies for improving care for these patients.

  • Identify the psychological symptoms a person with dementia may experience and how these impact on the person and their behaviour

  • Analyse situations and proactively identify triggers, stressors and deficiencies in wellbeing that may lead to changed behaviour 

  • Contribute to behaviour support plans

  • Outline the appropriate use of psychotropic medications, their relationship to restrictive practices and impact on wellbeing.
