Professor Kirsten Black is an academic gynaecologist and Professor of Sexual and Reproductive Health at the University of Sydney. She is chair of RANZCOG committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and led the college’s contraception guidelines. Professor has undertaken epidemiological and clinical studies in sexual and reproductive health and has over 200 peer reviewed publications. Prof Black has been a named investigator on several successful grants exploring how to improve access to contraception for women and how to improve training for health care practitioners. These include NHMRC grants for $701,847 Increasing the use of long-acting reversible contraception: The Australian Contraceptive ChOice pRoject (ACCORd) and a twice funded Centre of Research Excellence in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Women: Achieving Better Outcomes through Primary Care (SPHERE) for $2.49 million.
