Prof Ben Smith

Professor of Public Health

Ben is a Professor of Public Health at the University of Sydney, and holds a conjoint appointment with the Western Sydney Local Health District where he supports front line services that are tackling population health priorities. He sits on the Board of Healthy Male, and is passionate about championing the issue of men’s health and developing effective strategies to reduce preventable illness among men. He has authored over 150 publications, and his research is oriented towards chronic disease prevention, healthy ageing and addressing the health impacts of social isolation and disadvantage. Ben currently works with the Ending Loneliness Together coalition, a leading organisation that addresses social isolation and loneliness. He is also Deputy Director of the Prevention Research Collaboration at the University of Sydney.
