Amelia Renu

Amelia has worked in Aged Care Psychiatry for over 25 years, and as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Aged Care Psychiatry for over 15 years, including the areas of acute inpatient care and community. She also has held project roles in workforce planning and development with the NSW Older Person’s Mental Health Unit based in the Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Office in NSW Health, (Now the Ministry of Health), and was also involved in the development and implementation of core competencies in the specialty with the NSW Older Person’s Mental Health Policy Unit, and the NSW Institute of Psychiatry. Amelia also reviewed and mapped the SMHSOP Core Competencies to the Older Person postgraduate courses at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry. Amelia holds a Masters Degree which focused on Clinical Teaching, Research and Gerontology. Amelia has also worked as a Lecturer at Australian Catholic University, North Sydney Campus in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, and has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education at ACU. Currently Amelia is the Academic Lead - Older Persons in the Applied Mental Health Courses at HETI Higher Education.
