Bree Till

Bree Till is a mother to four beautiful children. She has juggled her roles as a defence spouse and a carer, with studies and her career. After 15 years as a high school visual arts and welfare teacher, she retrained as a counsellor, and is currently completing a Masters of Art Therapy.

Bree’s husband, Brett Till, was an Engineer in the Incident Response Regiment. The regiment was formed to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive incidents. This included clearing IED to render safe pathways for Special Operations to conduct operations in theatre.

In 2009, Brett was deployed to Afghanistan as an explosive ordinance technician. When Bree was around eight weeks pregnant, Brett was killed whilst rendering safe an explosive ordinance device.

For 10 years, Bree has actively advocated for adaptations to policy and procedures for ADF, DVA and ex-service organisations to meet the needs of contemporary Veteran families. Bree currently works for Open Arms (formerly Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service) as a Community and Peer Advisor, a program that embraces lived experiences to provide peer support to Veterans and their families.
