Are you ready to deliver a workshop to your colleagues that sets the standard for peer learning?

Welcome to your workshop in a box.

Enhance your approach to oral anticoagulation for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation with this simple course designed for primary care professionals. Covering the latest Australian clinical practice guideline updates, you will receive all the key tools to support and optimise patient care.

This accredited facilitator course includes all of the necessary resources, cases and content on oral anticoagulation for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation, for you to lead a case based discussion with your peers.

Overview

Ideal for lunchtime education or registrar teaching, the resources included in this program are designed to support small group learning sessions for primary care health professionals, including GPs, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams.

The session is built around a detailed clinical case study, promoting interactive discussions around the use of oral anticoagulation for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. This course is tailored to address the unique challenges faced in primary care, with a focus on practical strategies and evidence-based approaches.

The session will:

  • assist with identifying patients at high risk of atrial fibrillation and implement evidence-based screening measures to facilitate timely diagnosis.
  • improve confidence in assessing the risks and benefits of initiating oral anticoagulant therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation, considering both patient-specific and medicine-related factors.
  • highlight the importance of regular monitoring and scheduled review periods for patients prescribed anticoagulants to optimise treatment outcomes and minimise adverse effects.
  • provide tools to assist with developing and implementing a comprehensive management plan that includes lifestyle modifications to reduce stroke risk and mitigate bleeding complications.
Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, facilitators should be able to:

Prepare and review materials to facilitate a case study discussion on the role of oral anticoagulants for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation
